Description
I am assuming this is the famous pr*mo only TEST PRESSING of Frank Zappa’s “Zappa in New York” LP released in 1978. Vinyl is VG++ except for one small surface scratch you cannot hear on first song of disc one. The two records are packed separately in plain white cardboard jackets, one reads “2D-1-2290” in handwritten black marker pen, the other “2D-2-2290”. All four white labels (actually, two of the labels are darker due to age) have identical printing which reads “1977 Warner Bros. Recording Inc.” above spindle hole, below the hole “Available only to technical and other authorized personnel for the limited purposes of testing and review. NOT TO BE PUBLICLY PERFORMED, REPRODUCED, SOLD OR OTHERWISE DISTRIBUTED”. One disc has a label with the number “1” handwritten, the other disc has a label with the number “2” handwritten. I’ve never seen this record before, but to me all of the above points to the fact this is the ultra rare test pressing. Goldmine says it has the song “Punky’s Whips” but I could not tell you since I am not familiar with it. It was in a large Zappa collection I bought. One of Mr. Zappa’s hardest to find LPs, a must for your collection! For hundreds of rare records… WE MOVED OUR STORE! We are now in San Rafael, just 15 minutes north of San Francisco.
