Released as part of the Zappa Records/UMe agreement, this remastered edition of Frank Zappa's Sheik Yerbouti double live album is pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Originally released in 1979, it was Zappa's first album to be released on Zappa Records and contains the tracks, `Dancin' Foot' and `Bobby Brown' amongst others. Originally released in 1979, Sheik Yerbouti was Zappa's first album to be released on Zappa Records and contains the FM radio hits 'Dancin' Foot' and 'Bobby Brown' amongst others. Sheik Yerbouti represented a major turning point in Zappa's career. It emphasized the comedic aspect of his lyrics more than ever before, beginning a period of increased record sales and mainstream media attention. Sheik Yerbouti remains Zappa's biggest selling album worldwide with over two million units sold to date. The title is a play on words; Zappa appears on the cover in character in Arab headdress, and the name, meant to resemble an Arabic transcription, is pronounced like the title of KC and the Sunshine Band's 1976 disco hit "Shake Your Booty".

The folly of others was always Zappa's bread and butter, and living in LA, there was plenty of folly from which to choose. On SHEIK YERBOUTI he was at the top of his game, with relentless and biting sarcasm, and the chutzpah to not care who he insulted. Blessed with the ability to expose nincompoopery with just one cleverly turned phrase, Zappa was the great leveler, insulting everyone equally. Peter Frampton ("I Have Been In You") and Jewish American Princesses ("Jewish Princess") are just two of Zappa's targets on SHEIK. Zappa reserved most of his barbs for Los Angeles scenesters, dedicating six tunes, including the hilarious "I'm So Cute" and "Dancin' Fool" to the "beautiful people" of his hometown. Conspicuously absent from the list of victims is the religious right, who would be his favorite target in the '80s.
