THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - FREAK OUT! (UK VERVE, SVLP 9154, 1966)
Here we have a nice copy of FZ's legendary debut, this is the very rare UK STEREO SINGLE DISC PRESSING! This is the very first pressing, manufactured by EMI. As Freak Out! was a double album, EMI decided this would be far too expensive and too great a risk to issue, so instead compressed the album down to one disc (cutting out Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder, How Could I Be Such A Fool and Anyway The Wind Blows in the process and replacing the full length Trouble Comin' Every Day with the heavily-edited single version) WITHOUT Zappa's permission!!! This sold barely any copies on release, and stereo copies are virtually extinct. This very rarely turns up now, and has come from my personal collection. I'd say this is by far the rarest UK Verve FZ album. Don't miss out!

Vinyl is in VG+ condition : not bad overall - visually a VG - side 1 has some light marks and plays very well with some light crackle, side 2 has a few nasty marks (see 4th pic), 1 large one and 6 smaller ones (2 are on the run-out groove) which is such a letdown as they DO NOT SOUND AT ALL, the whole side plays exactly the same as side 2!
Laminated flipback sleeve is in VG condition : has the usual creases on the front, still has full colour and looks nice, there is a small split on the bottom middle measuring approx. 3cm, the back has yellowed with age slightly and the opening edges are a little worn, there is a brown mark on the back bottom right (see 2nd pic), which is on the bottom of the spine, other than that the spine is fine and perfectly readable, not as bad as it sounds!
