Description
Frankie Valli collectors know just what they're looking at here. For bids is an original Philips blue-label 45 of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (1967) with its original, very hard to find picture sleeve, both in a conservatively graded VG+ condition. I had the sleeve personally autographed by Frankie in the early '70s in St. Paul at the Civic Center. I've loved The 4 Seasons since I first heard Sherry, and collected everything I could get my hands on through the years. I can't believe I'm offering this for sale, but these times have apparently made a mercenary of me. ;'[
The scans show the condition of the record and the sleeve. The inscription reads "Best Wishes Frankie Valli" (sort of. 'wishes' is mostly a scribble). I used photoshop to correct the color and saturation of the scan, so what you see is very close to actual color. The marking on the red border at the bottom of the front is a reflection on the platen, and except for a slight bend, does not appear on the sleeve itself. There are a few other light bend marks, the most important one being at Frankie's left elbow by the loop in the F in 'Frankie'. There is a small, about 1/2" fold on the back cover, visible in both photos (all paper is intact.) Very light disc wear on the back. No splits in the edges. The record itself is a styrene pressing with only the lightest surface markings, which are not audible once the music starts.
Fans know how hard it is to get a meet & greet with Frankie. I was able to name-drop a mutual friend back then, and he was friendly and gracious to me, told me to wait after the show, and came out to meet me in the theater. If I don't stop now, I'm going to talk myself out of this...
