Description
- Presented in this listing are volumes 1-2, 3-6, 11-14, 17-38, and 41-56 of the 100 volume Franklin Mint's The Greatest Recordings of the Big Band Era. Beginning in early 1981 and continuing into 1985 The Franklin Mint released one box containing 2 records of various Big Band recordings approximately at the rate of one two record box set each month. Each record was an LP made of extra heavy duty, pure virgin ruby red colored vinyl. According to the Franklin Mint each LP was pressed with this special heavy weight red vinyl which created a very quiet playing surface compared to normal vinyl records. Also these records were reportedly pressed in an atmospherically controlled clean room, further assuring a quiet playing surface for each LP.
- In this lot I am missing the first record of volume 1-2 and the first record of volume 5-6.
- There are a total of 46 pieces of vinyl in this lot.
- All volumes are pressed on beautiful red / burgundy heavy duty vinyl.
- All volumes include very informative booklets about each vinyl set.
- Some volumes also include a letter from the vice president and director of the label with his signed seal of each LP's quality and guarantee.
- Volumes 47-56 are still sealed.
- The others are all used and in varying condition. All of the vinyl itself is in excellent condition, but some of the boxes and booklets have some damage and brown spotting on them. This can all be seen in the photos. Many of the boxes and booklets do not have these issues, but I wanted to show the examples of the ones that do.
