Description
Night of the Cookers Vol 1 was Hubbard's 11th album as a leader, and first live release. Blue Note 84207 was recorded and released in 1965. It is the companion piece to 84208, Vol 2, which is also being offered by Orbit. Joining Hubbard on the bandstand that night at the Club La Marchal, were Lee Morgan, James Spaulding, Harold Mabern Jr, Larry Ridley, Pete LaRoca, and Big Black. The long jams take up all the side.

Pressing reads New York USA. There is an ear stamp, and Van Gelder stamped into the run-off grooves on both sides. The numbers in the grooves both read BNST 84107, although 8 was written first, and on side one, the 7 is OVER the 8, while on side 2, the 8 is scratched out, and 7 written next to it. The pressing is NM VERY nice. There are mild spindle marks on both sides. The jacket has shrink wrap still attached. There is slight yellowing from age. Spines are all beautiful. The inner sleeve is the 27 Years Blue Note 1939-1966 sleeve. Back address is 43 West 61st St New York 23. - Different than label.
