Description

Freddie Roach - Good Move

Feat. Hank Mobley, Blue Mitchell, etc.

1964 1st pressing *

* Discogs shows a light Deep Groove (not the full trench Classic Groove) on side 1 and maybe a minor line on side 2. So one sided DG (?). Mine is very similar but has the more arguable DG on side 2 and no groove on Side 1. Maybe this doesn’t matter which side they had facing while pressing it but I wanted to disclose it.

It’s not one of the later pressings, for sure, as it has:

Plastylite EAR on both sides

VAN GELDER stamp on both sides

43 West 61st address on back cover

New York USA labels

I also didn’t see anything on LJC’s site either to suggest otherwise.

So it appears to be a clear 1st mono.

Message me if you have more info.

Mono pressing

Condition:

Disc: weak VG+ to nice VG (has 3-4 light marks, not feelable and not affecting play, plays very well! I took close up of each mark - see pics!)

Labels: VG+ (actually nice and clean, no real spindle wear and no trails, but has faint stamp on 1 side)

Cover: VG- (has rough seams with rubbing, and chipping loss, not “splits” exactly but exposed seams in spots, but not like floppy and open. Has TV station sticker on front and a small piece of red electrical tape on side seam likely used by previous owner for shelf organizing by color. Has “jazz” and “TV station” genre stamping from tv station , has more modern price tag on front, decently strong with good color, but clearly giving “well worn” vibes. Not trashed exactly but not close to VG+ by any means.

BIG JAZZ SALE (PLEASE READ):

I am selling my personal jazz record collection.

Mostly 1950s-60s (+ a couple 70s) Bop on Blue Note, Prestige, New Jazz, Jazzland, Columbia, Bethlehem, Pacific Jazz, Muse, Black Jazz, Impulse!, Vanguard, RCA, etc.

Most are first pressing or some other very early pressing (DG, RVG, Plastylite, 6-eye, etc.)

Please message with any questions - I will do my best to grade carefully and strictly. I pack all records in a new LP mailer, with cardboard flats for padding, record stored behind cover in good inner sleeves and outer poly cover. I can’t play test each one by request, but I will note play quality when certain.

I will combine shipping by adjusting invoices immediately after the auction ends. Usually within 20 minutes of the last record ending.

I am not responsible with how eBay re-packages international orders through their global shipping program. I can’t adjust invoices for international orders as eBay controls those shipping charges. I can’t even see them.

I won’t take offers to end an auction early. Sorry, it’s just not feasible or fair to people bidding on multiple records.
