Free, Tons Of Sobs. This is the later 1970 UK stereo issue of their debut album originally released in March 1969. The Robor Ltd matt gatefold sleeve is in EX Condition, the plain inner is in EX condition & the Record is in EX Condition. With great tracks including; 'The Hunter & I'm A Mover''. Description
Original UK Island Pink Rim label stereo press.The debut album by Free was recorded at Morgan Studios, London in October & December 1968 and eventually released in March 1969. The band had formed in the aftermath of Black Cat Bones in April and had begun playing the UK club and pub circuits, although they were only between 15 to 18yrs old. They were soon signed up by Chris Blackwell of Island Records and Guy Stevens was hired to produce the album with a tiny budget of £800. They played what was their live set and much of it was recorded in a couple of takes with little overdubbing. They went on to tour larger venues during 1969 supporting the Who & Arthur Brown, but the album failed to chart, making first pressings very scarce! The band finally made it in May 1970 when the single 'All Right Now' from their third album went to no.2 in June 1970.
This is the later 1970 issue with the pink rim Island labels, with the new Island logo on the rear sleeve and the A-3U B-3U matrices & 1-R 1-A stampers of the fourth presses. The Robor Ltd matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some very light corner/edge wear and very light storage rubbing on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition. The record is in visually EX condition, with a couple of faint hairlines and one or two small needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, undamaged, clean & bright with evidence of few faint spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some breif background noise during the run in grooves.
Ooverall, a really good, loud and clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; ILPS-9089, A-3U mother stamper 1-R, B-3U mother stamper 1-AO. This is one of the early pressings of the original 1970 UK stereo re-issue of this 1969 album!
All lp's are sent in cardboard record mailers with plastic covers and cardboard stiffeners to protect the LP's!! UK Signed For Postage is £4.50 for the first LP & is the same for up to four single LP's or two double LP's or more up to 2kg.
Royal Mail post to Europe (All EU countries & non EU countries, including Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, etc.), the Rest of the World (Zone 1, including Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea, China, South Africa, etc.) and the Rest of the World Zones 2 & 3 (the USA, Australia & New Zealand etc).
All Airmail is limited to 5 or 6 lp's due to 2kg weight restrictions.
