Description
Bought at the Josh Ritter concert at Terminal 5 in NYC on February 12th, 2011 - Scott Hutchison did a solo set opening for him. By then , the 4th or 5th time I had seen FR but the first solo show - I remember being transfixed 20 feet from the stage while idiots talked in the crowd around me.
At the end of the show, I went over to merch, as one does, and Scott was hanging out there more than a bit drunk but very happy. I had wanted to buy this record, so I took my shot and asked for an autograph which he easily gave, followed by a handshake. Still, falls under my top3 interactions with this great man, headlined by a few minute chat at a free WWPJ show in Manhattan on a pier, when I just looked left and there he was. I also have an autographed vinyl of Nothing Like You by the full band when I saw them twice in one day at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, which is obviously not for sale.
All of that was to say I'm a true FRabbit fan, just like anyone still reading. I listened to this album maybe twice, then put it in a crate and stored it at my parents house after I had to get rid of my turntable after moving to a small NYC apartment. I'm about to move internationally, so skimmed my collection and found this (and TMOF) and knew it was time to let it go, so here we are.
Scott's passing hit me like a ton of bricks, I think of him everyday and keep a photo of him from a Brooklyn Steel show as my desktop background. As such, I'll donate 25% of proceeds to Tiny Changes, because it's the right thing to do.
