Nice UK private pressing. Very rare album, the holy grail of rare UK folk albums ever made. Lovely folk album with great songs and lovely female vocals. Title track is hauntingly beautful with sea sound effects. A hideously rare album, this features in Hans Pokora's 4001 record collector dreams with a massive 5 discs on the rarity scale. “The pinnacle of electric folk albums – having sold for four-figure sums in the past – Silkie is also among the best. Bringing to mind Deirdre, Fairport Convention, Ragged Heroes, et al, the LP includes superb interpretations of traditional material like Blackleg Miner and Lovely Joan.
At the same time the band maintains its own identification – particularly through the use of two classically-trained violinists giving a symphonic edge to much of the material. Only 250 copies were ever pressed – four or five which have resurfaced on the collector’s market - with none remaining at the source.”

Giving the album a good listen (on headphones) I noticed a mild distortion on some parts of playback. The vinyl looks near perfect so could be the pressing or vinyl used. Its only minor but thought I'd better mention it.
