Across the ten songs, the band dialed back the noise and psych-pop found on their previous LPs to reveal delicately beautiful melodies, intricately arranged instrumentals, and some of their most experimental songwriting to date. This evolution revealed new dynamics of Froth’s sound, resulting in a moodier and more atmospheric bend to their shoegazing melodicism and pop sensibilities, mixing the driving, tuneful drone of first single “Contact” alongside the epic squall of the intertwining guitars on “Passing Thing” and the more spare, meditative landscape of “Show A Flower A Candle And It Grows” (featuring lead vocals from drummer Cameron Allen). Whereas previously they operated mainly as a guitar-driven band, here finds songs augmented by highlights of cello and synths (courtesy of Dolas), as well as drum machines, Rhodes, and other keys. Lyrically, Ashworth found the works of authors Richard Brautigan (the album title comes from a chapter in one of his books) and Haruki Murakami as a fitting inspiration for the dark beauty of Outside (briefly)’s music. The result is their most varied yet cohesive work to date: a refined studio effort that no longer feels like a documentation of a live band of a collection of songs, but rather a complete, full-bodied album.

Attention Serious Record Buyers !!

Every record is prepared and shipped using a combination of bubble wrap, cardboard flats and shrink wrap to ensure your purchase arrives safe and secure without hassles, damages or bends to the corners, cover, or spine. In addition, I attach a 1” x 3” pieces of cardboard (I call them “planks.”) around the outside edges of each corner. Finally, the shipment is clearly marked "fragile" on both sides. I have also found that identifying the contents and using the magic words “Thank you USPS” help protect the package’s contents and often shortens the time it takes a package shipped via Media Mail to arrive.

Seam Splits… Records are notorious for splitting seams during shipment. Like the smaller labels that package them unsealed within a 3mm poly sleeve, so do I. Unless the record is factory sealed and you don’t request that I open it, all my records come organized and shipped this way including new records that were opened to photograph and all used records.

IMPORTANT: Only upon your request will I open sealed records and ship them as described above. Due to my small scale of my business, I cannot afford to replace records that split through seams while shipping, so I highly recommend buyers request these services. (Truth be told, I know of no incidences of any split seams during shipment, but there is a first time for everything.)

TLC for $$$... If you purchase a rare or valuable record, I will always use additional material to ensure it is well protected. And get this… If the inside sleeve is extra special as they often are with these buys, I’ll tuck the original inner sleeve inside the cover and slip the record into a generic plain paper sleeve. This protects the nicer inner sleeve from possible seam splits that can happen during the weeklong hitch with the postal service.

Due to their size and weight, all boxsets and double LPs are given extra special attention so that they arrive safe and sound.

All return postage must be paid by buyer. Purchases must be returned as delivered.

Please see my feedback if you have any concerns. I buy a lot of records, too. And I know of only one other seller who packages his records as safe and secure as I do. And quite frankly, I am very tired of getting records from both the bulk and inexperienced sellers who are careless about protecting records during shipment. One slip or sling of the package against a hard surface can result in a smashed corner or worse. Collectors and serious buyers despise this. At NIN9VOLT, we care about that.

Unfortunately, not all of our records are always perfect. But if 100% of the records we buy to resell had no crinkled corners, none we sell to you would be crinkled. But sometimes a few slip by us. That’s why we don’t charge the going postal rates most of the time.

WHY WE SELL RECORDS

Why the hell sell records? So many guys get in it, realize after a few months they haven’t charged enough for their goods then get out… and some other kook comes along and does the same thing…It’s a never-ending process we face as long term sellers.Blah, blah, blah.

We love tunes and will do this forever regardless of who else comes and goes.

After paying our over-charged eBay and PayPal fees, a portion of each purchase will be put toward the efforts of launching our dream—NIN9VOLT RECORDS—an independent label that was one time an independent magazine ran by a couple of really fun music- and gal-loving guys who also love bands the Replacements, Lilly Hiatt, Drag the River, Archers of Loaf, Liz Phair, and small indie labels like Polyvinyl, Run for Cover, 6131, American Laundromat and many more, including indie labels that were small when we started and now a little overweight with success.

We like smart, well-written lyrics and big guitars most of the time. But we can dig Natalie Merchant singing "Verdi Cries" or Jay Som's "I Think You're Alright".  Or her cool-as-shit ditty to Rush... "Why'd you wait...so long"…. But we are currently really digging Bridget Kearney's (Lake Street Dive) new solo record Won't Let You Down. Or there might be some Social D in the background or music from our local boy, Phil Roebuck, that we have for sell in our store here on ebay. We don’t even know most of the Top 40 bands or even know the names of most hip hop artists. It’s not that we don’t care, we just don’t listen to that stuff or have any desire to keep up with what the world wants to consume. We buy and sell records we like. And if you like them, cool.

And since we could care less what the masses are listening to, it might take us a little longer to raise the money. So, buying two records would make things go quicker (and we can offer a shipping discount by cutting the second record’s shipping fee in half, and so on.)
