The Fugitives – ‘Love Come Down’ / ‘Good Lovin’ If You Can Get It’ – Sandman 701 (US)

The first release on Sandy Wilborn’s Sandman label, which put out a handful of good singles by artists such as Wilbur “Hi-Fi” White and McKinley Mitchell, all in 1971. The Fugitives were a youthful quintet, most likely a family affair, somewhat in the Jackson 5 mode, and the haunting ‘Love Come Down’ – penned by Sandy Wilborn and what I assume was the group’s manager (or mother or father), “E. Sharkey” – featuring Scottie on lead vocals, was arguably their best side. The Fabulous Fugitives Review featuring Michael Sharkey, who cut the funk monster ‘What The World Needs’ (J’ace 3111), most likely is the same group.

Condition: VG+ or thereabouts (please listen to the clips). Clean labels (please see scans).
