Setting the stage:

I started to “build a record collection” of sorts about 20 years ago. I was motivated to buy vinyl because of a record player I received as a gift. What I quickly found out was that the vinyl records market is very dense and convoluted. Despite my love for music and all of its versatility, I didn’t have much direction. I simply bought what I liked to listen to, and I ended up with a “collection” of original records (i.e. first pressing) and reissues. Some purchases were of new records and some purchases were of used records, but for the last 20 years or so (subject to release date), all of the records I am offering have been in my possession. In total, I’ve accumulated just over 100 records for my “record collection”. Ultimately, these records have been collecting dust sitting on my shelves. I’ve opened and unwrapped some of the records and others are as is. Have I listened to them all? No way. I would estimate I’ve listened to about 25 of the records and some of them even a few times. Any of these records can become part of your collection now. I will be posting them in batches because compiling a discography, cataloging, and photographing all these records has been much more difficult than buying them and enjoying them. By now you can probably tell I’m not very technical with the record jargon. I’ve dedicated an immense amount of time to compiling the most accurate information to provide you about the records I am offering. I believe all of the records are in good condition at a minimum. I purchased them all from reputable record stores and not at garage sales or flea markets. That being said, I am happy to answer questions on the higher dollar items ($50+), I won’t take pictures and fulfill a bunch of random requests for the low dollar items, I just don’t have the bandwidth. Funkadelic, the brainchild of George Clinton, is a complete cosmic experience. Blending psychedelic rock, raw soul, and deep funk with unfiltered political commentary and Afrofuturist vision, Funkadelic broke every rule of traditional R&B. From the late 1960s onward, they pioneered a whole new genre, liberating Black music into uncharted territory that was as intellectually radical as it was rhythmically infectious. Clinton’s crew wasn’t just about the groove, they were about expanding your mind while shaking your body. Often paired with Parliament under the “P-Funk” umbrella, Funkadelic created a sprawling mythology and a musical movement. They pushed the limits of sound, stage performance, and visual art while becoming one of the most influential acts in funk history. Their dazzling guitar solos, cosmic grooves, and a revolutionary spirit, helped Funkadelic define the sound of Afrofuturism and inspired artists across rock, hip-hop, funk, and beyond.

Record 1: Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Grove (Original 1978, U.S. Pressing):

Released in 1978, One Nation Under a Groove is a cornerstone of American music. The album boldly unifyied funk, soul, rock, and social commentary. Anchored by the anthemic title track, this album brought P-Funk into the mainstream, spending six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and eventually achieving Platinum status. The lyrics, artwork, and instrumentation all reinforced a message of unity, liberation, and groove delivered with the vibrance only Funkadelic could bring. It remains one of the most influential records of the 1970s and a must-have for serious collectors. This record is the original 1978, U.S. pressing.

Released in 1971, Maggot Brain is widely considered Funkadelic’s masterpiece — a genre-defying odyssey of emotion, protest, and sonic experimentation. The record opens with a 10-minute mind-melting guitar solo by Eddie Hazel that’s often ranked among the greatest in rock history. Its raw and transcendent psychedelic blues sound set the tone for the album’s wild trip through paranoia, satire, and social critique.

Tracks like “Can You Get to That” and “Super Stupid” mix gospel harmonies, fuzzed-out guitars, and funk rhythms with biting lyrics and Clinton’s visionary production. This reissue includes the ultra-rare bonus 7” EP featuring the tracks “Maggot Brain” and “Chant (Think It Ain’t Illegal Yet!),” making it a must-have for collectors.
