Record is from the amazing personal collection of well-known San Francisco DJ Abe “Voco Kesh” Keshishian. Voco was an avid collector of blues, jazz, r/b and rock records who maintained his vinyl meticulously and accumulated early edition pieces. Check my other auctions for more from Kesh's collection.
Known for his KSAN radio show, “Lights Out San Francisco,” Voco was instrumental in the careers of artists like Blue Cheer and Harvey Mandel. He died of a heart attack in 1989 and his records were well-kept in storage until a recent auction.
Says Allmusic:
Their number 15 pop smash "Funky Nassau Part 1 & 2" is the cream of this hands-on production by the Bahamas natives. The nine cuts fuses island rhythms and American jazz/funk into a doable, choppy mixture featuring guitars, bass, drums, and scratch vocals. Misclassified as a disco band, the Beginning of the End served up breezy Phil Upchurch-esque sounds, with "Come Down" and "Surrey Ride" being prime examples.
