Description
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 9
Wilhelm Furtwangler conducts Choir and Orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival.
With Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Elisabeth Hongen, Hans Hopf and Otto Edelmann.
Early British HMV-pressing of this famous 1951 live-recording in German box and with German sleeve. In the 50s Electrola sometimes mixed ALP – LPs with WALP-sleeves, as is the case here.
Vinyls have grooved shaded dog-labels with article nos ALP 1286/ 1287.Matrix-nos. are: 2XRA 16-2N, 2XRA 17-2N, 2XRA 18-2N, 2XRA 19-3N. Both are in neutral white stitched innersleeves.
Linen box is a very early German WALP 1286/1287-edition with gold lettering on spine and suiting booklet.

Condition Box: Strong EX to NM. Fantastically preserved. Light staining on spine.

Condition Vinyl: Strong EX to NM. Played once or twice, ultra-light wiping marks visible under strong light. Considering its age this must be called a near perfect copy. Stunning!
