Description
RARE ACETATE DISC WITH TWO MISCELLANEOUS RECORDINGS. THIS DISC WAS RECORDED FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
Side One features a gag broadcast recording about a character named "Cal McCarthy" who was born with a whistle instead of a voice and constantly whistles the Rinso White jingle. His life story includes almost winning the Kentucky Derby and then becoming an advertising executive. Includes some language that would not have been appropriate for radio broadcasting at the time. The host sounds like Paul McGrath from Inner Sanctum Mysteries. Many spoofs of tag lines and references to various popular radio broadcasts of the time. "Gag On Bill Stern" is written on the sleeve, however I didn't hear a Bill Stern reference. The program ends with no closing announcement. 14 minutes
Side Two contains the first five minutes of "This Is New York" radio broadcast from February 14, 1947 featuring reporter Bill Leonard. He talks about V-Discs sent to US troops overseas and his visit with Tony Janek who use to record music for V-Disc while in the military - who now works for CBS. 5 minutes
Disc is in Excellent Condition with Excellent+ sound, Beautiful Disc!
