This is the rare Brazilian original first pressing of the first album by Gal Costa under her own name! After the legendary collaboration with Caetano Veloso, "Domingo" (1967, still in the Bossa Nova vein), and the ground-breaking 1968 compilation "Tropicália: ou Panis et Circencis" "Gal Costa" really unleashed Costa's solo career.

"AllMusic" gives five stars to this album. "Gal Costa" is something instantly miles away from everything that came before it in Brasil. We have psychedelic echo effects, dissolving into gloriously lush string arrangements and lighthearted organ. Softly glowing chamber pop arrangements melt into unchained grooves and buzzing fuzz guitar bug-outs. Very Sixties indeed!

"Gal Costa" was ranked the 80th best Brazilian album of all time by the Brazilian Rolling Stone magazine. Gilberto Gil and Rogerio Duprat provided arrangements, Gil and Caetano Veloso also sing. Veloso, Gil, Roberto and Erasmo Carlos and Jorge Ben are among the composers. Contains the hits "Que pena" and "Baby".

Rare original Brazil LP. Jacket open on top and bottom, as usual in pressings from this country of this era. The cover has minimal staining and tears on the side edges = VG+

The record has cracking only at the very beginning of the first track, after that the condition of the record is excellent (sometimes there is a light fizz in the empty or lead-out groove) = VG+

All of my records are carefully packed in sturdy cardboard mailers. I will add two cardboard supports, and the record will be out of sleeve to prevent seam splits.
