Description
U.K. 1970 ORIGINAL DERAM-Nova series LABEL (Cat.No. SDN 4-stereo)
Although the vinyl label(Stereo red"block" design with silver print) itself lists the date as 1969 the sleeve states it is 1970-more likely.Vinyl and labels are clean with just a couple of spindle marks on each side to tell you it has been played.Would describe as "EX-plus".Having "play-graded"as well as visually grading the record I am still concluding it plays and looks "EX-plus".Side 2 label has 3 tiny blemishes from manufacture(they are actually tiny holes in the label where the shiny black vinyl shows through!).
Sleeve :laminated front which I would desrcibe as "EX-minus".Has a scuff across lower left hand side and a series of tiny creases eminating from the spine , which have slightly cracked the laminate though it is still intact.Because the cover design is some kind of nightmare cartoon by David Anstey these flaws are hardly visable. There is also very slight signs of ring-wear at both top and bottom.Matt finished reverse cover has B&W group pictures strung-out to look like one long pic.and credits.Another drawing by David Anstey takes up a third of the space(think I've seen his demented work on a few other prog.LPs from this time).Back cover is clean in the main;apart from two stains near the spine-one at the top and another at the bottom.Otherwise shows signs of age by slight yellowing at the edges.Housed in regular Decca paper and poly-lined innersleeve, this is a nice example of British Progreesive Rock at the turn of the '60's/'70's-it's high water mark. This is the group's debut. They went on to make another LP later in 1970.(Which is probably even rarer than this!)GALLIARD are an obscurity.None of this Birmingham band are exactly household names.
