A wide selection of attractive music from the Karanga, Ndau, Zezuru and Garwe groups of the Shona speaking peoples and of the Sena/Tonga.

Recorded by Hugh Tracey - a British ethnomusicologist (1903–1977).
He began making field recordings of music in the early 20's, through the 70's, founded The International Library of African Music (ILAM) in 1954, and developed an adaptation of the African thumb piano Mbira, known as the Kalimba. Director of the Music of Africa Series.

Condition Rating

The vinyl is extremely clean - with only a couple of small, light surface marks on both sides. These did not produce audible clicks or any loss of audio quality on my system.

The sleeve is Ex with only light edge and corner wear - with the exception of the sleeve opening which has a little more wear and a small area where the sleeve is creased backward. The spine shows evidence of compression and there is some light ring wear near the upper and lower front edges. There is some discoloration (spotting) - predominantly in the rear, lower right corner.

The labels are extremely clean with no easily discernible spindle wear on the label of Side One - and only very subtle spindle wear on the label of Side Two. This is only really visible when the label is viewed at angle toward a strong light source.

The vinyl is presented in a transparent liner which is creased, but intact.
