Description
Gandalf The Grey: "The Grey Wizard Am I" 1972, USA/GWR-007. Disc is M-, it looks unplayed! This private pressing is not audiophile as you may know. There is some very light surface noise at the intro of each side which was also on the other mint copy I had years ago; I'm sure you will never upgrade this disc! Cover has some light creasing/paper cracking along the bottom and top seams, I will grade the cover strong VG+ due to these "defects" but this cover certainly came from the factory like this. Great original pressing of this mega-rare private folk LP with full band backing, considered a masterpiece by some old-school collectors I know. The cover pics are fabulous, they're totally engrossing and awkwardly personal. The songs are inspired, having a particularly joyous, yearning feel with lovely melodies and the Wizard's sympathetic voice. But its childlike happiness also makes it very acidy somehow, even chillingly so. There's a freak aspect to this private LP that would have been buried had it been produced by a major label, and that's what makes it special. This is one of the oldest "blue chip" collector LPs in this bag so copies aren't lurking with record dealers or with the band anymore, they're in heavy collections.

I pack/ship once a week, usually on Friday. I use sturdy cardboard boxes designed for shipping records, and I remove the disc from the cover to prevent seam splits during shipment.
