A truly impressive copy of this ridiculously rare (especially in as brilliant condition as this) and sought after 1965 UK first press R&B gem, on the black and blue Columbia label, STEREO, SEG 8414

Gary Farr and the T-Bones were a UK R&B band from Sussex boasting a number of musicians during the band's relatively short lifespan, including Keith Emerson who eventually moved on to The Nice and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  7TCA 2355 - 1 stampers "1" and "G" at 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively, and the"KT" tax code stamped beside the"1"

Side 2  7TCA 2356 - 1 stampers "1" and "G" at 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively, and the"KT" tax code stamped beside the"1"

The condition of the vinyl is excellent (EX). Nice glossy, completely flat vinyl with jet black lacquering and an impressive sheen. It is only with closer scrutiny under a bright light that just a few wispy hairlines and a couple of small, very light pencil thin scuffs come into view on each side along with a slightly more noticeable 1cm light scuff on side 2 (see photo). There is also a tiny "bubble" towards the start of each side (probably emanating from manufacturing). All of these blemishes are non-feelable and surface only, and do not impinge upon the overall excellent sound quality. Clearly this is a record which has been played sparingly - both the condition and the excellent audio quality support this claim.

The labels are near perfect. Beautiful labels with all silver text upon the black smooth textured background, along with the iconic black and blue Columbia 1st pressing logo, all in wonderful condition. The "K" and "T" tax code identifiers sit proud on the side 1 label. if you look closely under a bright light you may just be able to detect a couple of very light, faint stray spindle trails but apart from that, perfect!

The condition of the laminated outer sleeve is excellent (EX). The reverse side is in near perfect condition, with each of the three flipbacks unmarked and in perfect order. Each edge is firm with no scuffing at all and each corner remains a perfectly formed right angle with no rubbing...amazing! All colours, on both sides, remain rich, vibrant, crisp and clear (as does the front side photo) and the only blemishes are some light laminate creases on the front side which I have tried to show in my photos. There is just some very light horizontal laminate creasing (surface only) across the middle of the front side, and a 7cm thin strip of vertical laminate lift towards the opening edge. The opening edges themselves remain firm with no fraying at all. So, not quite perfect but a definite excellent and I doubt that there are many better than this still in existence.

Finally, the quality of the audio is truly excellent. No nasty clicks, no skips, no repeats, no jumps, and barely any background crackle, with great tone and clarity throughout even on higher frequencies and at higher volume. There is just a little, very faint background crackle only really detectable at the very beginning and very end of each side, and I noticed x3 very background light clicks towards the end of track 1, side 2 but these are trivial and do nothing to diminish the overall excellent audio quality.

In summary a highly presentable and excellent condition copy of this exceedingly rare and sought after 1965 "under the radar" UK 1st press R&B gem - worthy of gracing any vinyl collection and only continuing to increase in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
