Gary Farr formed The T-Bones in Worthing, Sussex, in 1963. He was the son of boxer
Tommy Farr and his brother Ricky went on to promote the Isle Of Wight festivals in the late sixties.
The band were a raw R&B outfit who were very popular in the clubs and made an appearance
on 'Ready Steady Go'. See The T-Bones entry for details of their records under this name.
After disbanding The T-Bones in 1967 Gary recorded a couple of discs for the Marmalade label
(the first with Kevin Westlake) and then headed for the States, where he recorded
the Strange Fruit album, which is quite rare. Richard Thompson played lead guitar
on this one and again Mighty Baby provided the backing. It was also produced by
Fritz Fryer - fomer member of The Four Pennies. Take Something With You
is basically a folk-rock album tinged with psychedelia, which was really a reflection
of the era in which it was recorded. He is backed
on this now rare album by members of Mighty Baby and Blossom Toes

Although Gary Farr had started his recording career as a part of the mid-'60s British R&B wave,
by the time he did his first full-length album, he was heavily influenced by folk and progressive rock.
Members of late-'60s British progressive cult bands Blossom Toes and Mighty Baby,
in fact, help out on Take Something with You, which sometimes
has a pastoral rock-jazz-folk-blues feel à la Traffic...(AllMusic)
