Gary Numan - Down In The Park (Alternative Version)
MEGA RARE SOUTH AFRICAN ONE SIDED 10" ACETATE!!
Welcome to another extremely rare record auction.
The auction is for a one sided 10" acetate featuring an alternative version of Gary Numan's classic 1979 track 'Down In The Park' which was included on the 1979 LP 'Replicas'. This has to be the rarest Gary Numan item I have ever owned and probably ever will.
This acetate dates back to 1979 and was produced when Numan had decided to have tracks released worldwide in his name only (i.e not Tubeway Army).
This exclusive version features a different beginning and ending and runs for 3 minutes and 25 seconds!
On listening to this it appears that Warner Brothers cut a 'single' mix with a view to releasing this but the cross on the label suggests that it was rejected. This alternative version at 3.25 is much shorter than the version that was released as a single and included on the 'Replicas' LP which runs for around 4.22. The arrangements on the version are the same but the edit is different.

There is no catalogue number on this disc, label or on the run off groove for this one!
Like my previous Gary Numan acetate sold this week, please be assured that this fantastic item is 100% authentic. Numan collector's will know that I have been trading and dealing in rare records (and Gary Numan records in particular) for the past 15 years now. This disc was part of a collection purchased from a man who had worked in the music industry for Warners for many years. The record itself plays at 33RPM, is in EXCELLENT condition and is housed in a yellow 10" die cut sleeve. It has two spinning holes, the second being visible on side B of the disc only. This is without a doubt one of the rarest Gary Numan items in existence. Even more so than the Replicas 4 track EP Acetate sold this week as not only is it an acetate from the golden 'Replicas' era but also because this version of 'Down In The Park' was never released and 29 years on has still never been commercially issued!! This is a totally ONE OFF and very special pressing!!! The starting price of this auction reflects the rarity of the item. I have put NO RESERVE on this item as again I trust that the market will reflect a fair price so enjoy the auction and thank you for looking. Please note that further to extensive chat on the collectors corner section of the Gary Numan website AFENET.COM I have come to the conclusion that this acetate (just like the 4 track double sided 'Replicas' acetate sold earlier this week) is a South African pressing and not a US acetate as I originally thought.
