GREAT GREAT RECORD!!! Clark at his best. This record is a masterpiece by former Byrds member Gene Clark and was totally dissed, unrecognized and disregarded by the music industry when it was made. It later was seen to be a very great record. Gene Clark was GREAT and was treated poorly by clueless music executives. A favorite of mine with great songs like Life's Greatest Fool. Cream of the crop musicians.
This is a White Label promo copy that is in nice condition. Vinyl visually clean but does have some surface noise noticeable in quiet passages, no scratches; cover has minor storage wear.
FYI (from Wikipedia) ---------------- No Other is the fourth solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Gene Clark. Released in September 1974, it was largely ignored or lambasted by critics and was a commercial failure; the studio time and cost were seen as excessive and indulgent. The record label, Asylum Records, did not promote the album, and by 1976 had deleted it from their catalog. Clark never recovered from the failure of the album.
Most sessions were conducted in Los Angeles and featured the cream of the era's session musicians: Korchmar, keyboardist Craig Doerge, bassist Leland Sklar, and drummer Russ Kunkel of The Section; guitarist Jesse Ed Davis; noted progressive bluegrass fiddler Richard Greene; former Blues Image percussionist Joe Lala; keyboardist and future Jimmy Buffett bandleader Michael Utley; Allman Brothers Band percussionist Butch Trucks; pedal steel guitarist and longtime Neil Young collaborator Ben Keith; backup vocalists Clydie King, Claudia Lennear, Venetta Fields and Cindy Bullens; and former Byrd Chris Hillman.
The Guardian hailed No Other as "One of the greatest albums ever made... Initially celebrated for its obscurity, No Other is now celebrated for its magnificence."
In later years, Clark remained disappointed with the lack of success achieved by No Other, which he deemed to be his masterpiece in several interviews.
