COMMENTS
Here is a perfect copy of a fine Gene Clark solo LP. Gene was an original member of the Byrds but, although he never had great success as a solo performer he has in latter days been recognised as a lost great talent. Gene died in 1991 and is only now reffered to as another Nick Drake or Gram Parsons regarding his superb songwriting ability and the legacy of the work he has left.
This album features 1 overt country track at the start but after that reverts to Country Rock and often with a very mellow and sometimes melancholy touch.
Standouts for me are Lonely Saturday, Give My Love To Marie, Sister Moon and Past Addresses. Throughout Gene gets great support from the likes of Emmylou Harris, Steve Soles, Byron Berline and Doulas Dillard. However it is the fine words and emotion laden voice of Gene Clark that make this a wonderful LP. I read a bad review for this LP in a notable tome recently .... just listen to it yourself and you will understand why this man's music is now being reassessed.
