This was the legendary rocker’s comeback album, recorded for John Peel’s Dandelion label in 1969. In a Gatefold Sleeve with super photos of Gene in action! Quite apart from the stellar performances, the album was notable for being produced by record guru Kim Fowley and arranged and conducted by ‘The Byrds’ Skip Battin.
As well as Gene s own Be-Bop-A-Lula and Lotta’ Lovin other rockers include George Jones' White Lightning’, The Drifters ‘Ruby Baby’ and Bobby Day's ‘Rockin' Robin’.
The musicians included original Blue Caps guitarist Johnny Meeks, / Jim Grant – Piano / Red Rhodes – steel guitar, dobro / (Steppenwolf’s) MarsBonfire - rhythm guitar / Skip Battin – bass / Jim Gordon – drums
Sleeve notes thank The Doors, John Sebastian, Linda Ronstadt,Paul Rothchild, Bob Segarini and to David Anderle, Pat Faralla, Michael Jackson and Linda Perry who were guests during the recording.
