Description
The bid is for a Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps LP, autographed on the cover. It was Gene Vincent's second recording and was released in March of 1957. This is not a re-release or reproduction. It is used. It's my own personal album that I bought when it was released and had autographed as a young girl. The record itself has a couple of scratches. I played it alot when I was younger, but it has been put away for years. I don't have anything to play it on now, but the last time I played it there were no skips or "hangups/repeats", it played fine. The cover is worn and beginning to split on the "backbone" side. After all, it is 50 years old. I got these autographs myself when Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps performed at the Big D Jamboree, which was held every Saturday night at the Sportatorium in Dallas, Tx. I got them either in September or December (September I think) of 1957. You can confirm that performance by pulling up the rock & roll timeline on the internet. Pictured on the album, I believe, are Cliff Gallup, Paul Peek, Jack Neal, Dickie Harrrell, & Gene Vincent. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about the album pictures. The band members changed somewhat within the few months between the time this recording was made & the time I got the autographs, so the autographs don't match all the pictures shown. The autographs are Gene Vincent, Johnny Meeks (guitar), Dickie Harrell (drums), Bobbie Jones (bass), Paul Peek and Tommy "Bubba" Facenda (The Clapper Boys). Paul Peek had played bass until Gene Vincent decided he wanted vocal backup and decided to call them the Clapper Boys. Some of the sentiments with the signatures are "Love", "Love Always", and "Best Wishes". I'm not a record dealer or authority on records, so I've described this album as completely and best I can. Email any questions before bidding and I'll try to answer them. Although it's not in mint condition, it's still a very collectible item and the winning bidder is required to purchase insurance which will be included on the invoice. The insurance isn't expensive and the cost for it will be determined by the winning bid and that bidder's chosen method of shipment. This item is sold as-is and may not be returned.
