Genesis : A Trick Of The Tail  A-1 / B-1 1st Press Small Mad Hatter 1973
This first pressing plays to a very high standard with only a little intrusion as described below.  A few light ticks one track and some light static also but there are no clicks or pops.  Overall the clarity of sound is very impressive.  There are of course so many quiet sections but in the main they play extremely well.
The gatefold is in superb condition with only very minimal wear and the picture inner is stunning.
The first pressing were issued with a textured cover and on the inside it has the original Charisma Records address at 37 Soho Square.

The Charisma labels are Near Mint
Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a few faint hairlines with only a couple that are a little more obvious but there is certainly nothing that stands out.  There is no groove or surface wear and the run outs are very clean also.  The small Mad Hatter Charisma labels are super clean with only a little spindle wear.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Dance On A Volcano' is practically 'as new' with only a couple of barely audible statics.  The depth and power of the audio is superb and the opening vocal section is perfect.  The instrumental bridge is just as strong and clear as is the next vocal and it continues in the same precise way.  I can't put intro words just how phenomenal the audio is but I'll try!  The clarity and definition of the audio is out of this world and it sounds like it has never been played before.  The closing instrumental is a case in point - wow!  From start to finish this is Mint - I'm not going to downgrade it because of two minor statics that you could easily miss!
The intro and first verse on 'Entangled' play with great clarity and then the second and third verses do have a light static tick once per revolution although it certainly isn't loud.  The first chorus is close to perfect with only a couple of minor ticks and the next two verses play with sublime clarity and warmth.  'Entangled' plays beautifully for the vast majority.  The only intrusion is a light static tick once per revolution on the second and third verse.  Aside from that the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is sensational.  The classic end instrumental 'as new' - seriously it just could not play any better.  That one passage is Ex- but the rest is Mint for sure.
'Squonk' is so close to perfect.  Once again the power and depth of the audio is outstanding and the only intrusion are some light ticks right at the end of the track.  So Ex for the end section and Mint for everything before.
The intro on the classic 'Mad Man Moon' has only very minimal light static and Collins' opening vocal has barely any.  The second verse does indeed play with perfect clarity and the following chorus is stunning.  The long instrumental then plays with imperious quality - a couple of minor statics at the start but from then on it plays so clearly with only the bare minimum of light static in a couple of places.  The next vocal is flawless and the final vocal section / instrumental play with genuine quality also.  Overall I think Near Mint- is fair.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro and opening three verses on 'Robbery, Assault And Battery' play to perfection and the chorus is equal to that.  This high end standard is kept up as it progresses i.e. there is no intrusion.  They did instrumentals so well didn't they!  The instrumental sections here are STUNNING and Mint is very much deserved.
The opening two verses on 'Ripples' has only minimal light static, there is nothing intrusive, and the first chorus is perfectly.  The next quiet vocal again has only light background static and like the first it is not continuous.  From then on it can hardly be faulted - there is very little static and the instrumental section is superb.  The end vocal is 'as new' - I think this track ranges between Ex+ and Mint-
The title track 'A Trick Of The Tail' has only minimal light static on the intro / opening vocal and thereafter plays with exceptional clarity and warmth.  Some very light static on the final verse that is all.  The closing instrumental has no background.  Near Mint-
'Los Endos' has only a little light static on the intro and as it speeds up the audio is off the scale!  The depth is what you first notice and it continues to play with incredible power and essentially... no interference.  As it quietens down there is one light tick but that is the only background and then the remainder plays with impeccable power and clarity.  Near Mint
The Gatefold & Picture inner
The lightly textured cover is in superb condition with very little wear.  The edges are extremely clean and the wide spine has only a small amount of wear on the top corner.  It has lost its original colouring but really isn't that noticeable.  The other corners are in superb shape and the opening edge has barely any wear.  The front cover is stunning and has only a couple of minor spots next next to the spine but they are so faint, you have to look very closely in order to see them.  The back cover has just one faint' line' running across it but you can only really see it when you hold it at a certain angle and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate.  A fine example overall.
The picture inner is pristine.  The top opening edge has no handling wear and the other edges and corners are perfect.  There is just one tiny crease on each side but it's hardly worth a mention as is so small!

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
