Description

GENESIS ''FOXTROT'' CAS. 1058 MEGA RARE 1ST PRESS 1ST ISSUE ON THE FAMOUS CHARISMA LABEL. 1972 RELEASE TOTALY COMPLETE!!! THIS HAS ONLY BEEN PLAYED TWO OR THREE TIMES!!!! THIS IS THE VERY (VERY) EARLIEST PRESS MATRIX CAS 1058 -A1U -B1U WITH ''PORKY'' AND ''PECKO'' EARLIEST MOTHER STAMPERS ''1'' ''1''!!!!!!!!!

This 1972 release from Genesis shows a band growing more confident in the sound developed in their previous release, Nursery Cryme. The influence of Tony Banks continued to grow as more and different keyboards were worked into the compositions. Genesis released their first (and only) side-long epic. All these things point to FOXTROT as one of the most important Genesis albums and arguably in my oppinion one of the best!!!!!.

Strong points of the album include the solemn "Watcher of the Skies", bookended by a powerful and familliar Mellotron theme. "Can-Utility and the Coastliners", a somewhat underappreciated track, is almost prototypical Genesis, with Gabriel singing of the legend of King Canute while Hackett and Banks tear into their respective instruments to produce parts which are enjoyable yet still technically proficient. "Horizion's" is a nice enough guitar solo, and of course there is "Supper's Ready". So what to make of this 20+-minute song that begins with an evening watching TV and ends with the apocalypse? Personally I think it is brilliant.

.

These early 1st press issues are very much sought after especially this one the very earliest look at the mother stampers!!!! and in this almost unused condition. These are hardly ever seen for sale and are unbeleivably rare!!!!

The vinyl

This is the original thicker and heavier vinyl with deeper grooves and more robust than later pressings!!!!

This vinyl looks and plays like new!!!! the only comments that can be made of any marks on it would be from the record been slid in and out of its sleeve. Definately (no) audio sounding marks or scratches at all.Visably in normal light I can't see any marks at all!!!! (very rare) for a vinyl 35 years old!!!!  I have played this through track by track and this plays as new!!!!!! There were (no) clicks or pops that I heard! The audio is truly cristal clear and vibrant through out and you can hear with extreeme clarity genesis at their best in my opinion this can only be heard on a 1st pressing with a good sound system. Please note to be highly criticle there is very light static crackle in very quiet places which is from my experience quite common on these pressings.. But due to the fact that this is the original and thicker vinyl than later pressings i don't think that there is better about! (I also have this album on the ''pink scroll'' label which produces the same effect during quiet parts) This certainly grades at the top! and is extreemely collectable!!! There arn't many of these originals to be seen!!!!!! This also looks hardly played!!!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer. This is one of the best that I have heard of this album and I never heard any problems with any clicks or pops during the play of this album and the audio is awesome. However this is my honest opinion and when it comes down to music every one has their own opinions. please allow for the odd click hear and there (not consistant through out the audio) as this is a genuine original vinyl (not a reissue) that is 35 years old and would have been played on a system that is 35 years old!!! I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!!!
