Genesis : From Genesis To Revelation 1W/2W Early Stereo Pressing

This very collectable album plays to a superb standard with no actual interference!  The clarity and warmth of the audio is second to none and I only detected a couple of very minor static ticks on S2.  This is a FINAL UPGRADE pressing and one that has clearly hardly ever been played based on the audio and how incredibly clean the vinyl is.  There is very little spindle wear and its original sonic quality has been preserved so well.  It is quite possibly the finest version of this fine album that I have ever encountered.

The laminated cover is in excellent condition with only a little ringwear on the back and again has been very well looked after.  The lyric sheet is in superb order and the original inner is also in excellent condition.

This may not be a first stereo pressing (that is the un-boxed version) but it is nonetheless a first pressing on the boxed Decca label with the 1W/2W matrix.  I am sure the 2W/3W pressing was produced in greater number and I honestly believe it would be virtually impossible to find a better 1W/2W than this.  It truly is in remarkable condition with audio to match!

Visual grading

The vinyl really is in beautiful condition and I cannot find any obvious hairlines at all and there are certainly no marks or scratches.  It has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and with only very minimal spindle wear this is clearly a vinyl that has been so well preserved down the years.  The blue boxed Decca labels are in superb order with no marking.  A stunning version!

Play grading

S1 begins with an impeccable version of 'Where The Sour Turns To Sweet' that plays with a clarity and precision that cannot be underestimated.  From the quiet piano intro through every vocal and instrumental section the playback is faultless and 'as new' sums it up perfectly.  This is without question a Mint start to the album, no minus is required here.

'In The Beginning' plays to the same 'high end' standard with no intrusion.  The depth of the music is very evident here and already it is obvious this often underestimated album has hardly been played.  The final piano section is a prime example of that with no interference whatsoever.  Another stunning Mint track.

'Fireside Song' again plays with exceptional clarity and warmth from start to finish with literally nothing getting in the way of the audio.  Dare I say another Mint track - it deserves that grade, a beautiful version.

The bass intro on 'The Serpent' is flawless and Gabriel's opening vocal is equally as strong.  It continues in the same way and even the higher octane moments play with great power and definition.  Perhaps just a hint of distortion but so so minimal and totally non-intrusive.  Mint- is still a fair reflection of the audio.

'Am I Very Wrong?' plays with wonderful clarity from the word go - the playback is faultless and again you cannot help but admire the sonic quality on offer here.  A couple of barely audible dust ticks that is all and Mint is again deserved.

The quiet intro on 'In The Wilderness' is perfect and this quality is maintained throughout with only a minimal amount of inner groove distortion on the top end i.e. very minimal!  Perhaps it does not warrant a mention but I do so as to be 100% in my grading as per usual.  It is just what you expect to find with vinyl and in no way does it intrude on the quality of the listen.  A Mint- finish to the side.

The intro on 'The Conqueror' is so close to perfect with barely any static and thereafter plays with stunning precision.  There is no interference - no ticks, clicks, pops or static and is easily a Mint- start to S2 if not better!

'In Hiding' is just as impressive with no intrusion of any kind.  In fact the playback is outstanding from the first note to the last and again I am amazed at the sheer quality of the audio.  In all honesty it plays like it has never been on a turntable before.  Mint

The acoustic intro on 'One Day' plays with exceptional clarity and I detected only one very light static tick, you may even miss it!  As the vocal comes in there is no let up in quality and this clarity and warmth is prevalent throughout.  So far there has been no actual interference on this album!  Another Mint track.

The intro on 'Window' plays perfectly with only 3/4 mega light dust ticks soon after.  From then on the clarity is exceptional - there are of course so many quiet sections and yet they all play 'as new' with no 'background' at all.  Mint  

'In Limbo' plays beautifully from the very first note and continues in the same way.  With audio quality such as this it is difficult not to repeat myself - needless to say this is Mint and even the powerful end section plays so well and with no distortion.

'Silent Sun' has only a couple of minor static ticks on the intro and then plays without fault for the remainder.  This is a stunning version of this classic and Mint- is easily deserved.

'A Place To Call My Own' ends this STUNNING album with imperious quality once more.  I picked up just one very light tick on the first verse and another further in but the clarity can hardly be faulted.  It plays so clearly and of course there are a number of quiet sections let's not forget.  I believe Mint- is a worthy description of this final track.

In summary this collectable first pressing on the boxed Decca label plays to a fantastic standard and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE time warp classic i.e. it would be nigh on impossible to find better!  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is equal to that of an unplayed record and as stated earlier judging by the sonic quality and the pristine quality of the vinyl this can have indeed only been played a handful of times.  It truly is a spectacular copy and I am convinced the die-hard fan would be as impressed as I am.  It has the wow factor!

The Cover, Lyric Inner & Inner Sleeve

The laminated cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear.  The edges are in perfect order without any rubbing and the spine is also very clean with only very minimal laminate wear.  All corners are superb with no obvious wear and the the opening edge has no handling wear either.  The front cover is very impressive with just one minor laminate crease and one 'speck' and a handful of small creases next to the spine as is common.  The non-laminated back cover does have some ringwear but aside from that is in excellent shape with a faint crease bottom right.  A very strong cover overall.

The lyric sheet is superb with no marks and only very minor creasing.  The original poly-lined inner is very clean with just a little age related fading down the sides and one tiny tear on the top edge.
