"From Genesis To Revelation" Decca Records RARE 1969 UK First LP with Insert! No Reserve!
Genesis - "From Genesis To Revelation" Decca Records (UK) SKL 4990 from 1969. Super Hard To Find Original English Vinyl version of the very first Genesis album from 1969 featuring Peter Gabriel, Anthony Philips, Anthony Banks, Michael Rutherford and John Silver! As the story goes, because of the title, the sparse cover art and a lack of promotion, most record stores thought that this was a religious album and misfiled it leading to almost no sales. Also, the all black cover with gold leaf type lettering is notoriously fragile so copies that do survive tend to be thrashed. What it amounts to is one of the hardest to find items in the Genesis catalog! This copy however is in great shape and complete with the Original Color Lyric / Picture Insert and Original Decca Inner Sleeve. It is on the Blue with Silver print Decca ffss Stereo label and bears early Matrix numbers of P-1W and P-2W. You will have a hard time finding a nicer example of this rarity!

In super nice condition! The cover with it's laminated front and matte back shows just the slightest basic ring and edge storage wear and maybe some super slight softening of a couple corners but is still in close to new condition and easily VG++ if not Near Mint! Please note - any marks, streaks or blotches that you may see which are not mentioned in the write up (like those in the upper right corner of the cover) are scanner artifacts, not defects in the record cover... I will list any actual defects! The Vinyl is super! You can spot a couple light sleeve scuffs if you really look close (and have good eyes...) but, I am only able to spot one or maybe two super light spindle trails on the label (and to be honest, I'm not sure that I'm seeing any, I may just be paranoid), so I'd guess that it is quite likely unplayed or at least certainly not played more than once or twice at most! In super clean, close to New condition and should easily rate Near Mint! The labels are also Near Mint even taking into account the possible spindle trails! Includes the Original Color Lyric Insert and Decca Inner Sleeve which are both also Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:

Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.

Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over eleven years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
