First Press of Decca "boxed" label
A truly NM copy of this rare second press of the first Genesis album. Of course the first press UNBOXED label is the Holy Grail for any Genesis collector, but these hardly ever come up for sale these days and the last one I saw went for a FOUR figure sum of money.
This vinyl should be seen to be believed. Even in an angled position under a very intense light there is not any mark or hairline to be seen!!!! This leads me to believe that it might actually be UNPLAYED!!!
Many of these went unsold as they were put in the "Religious Music" category in many shops. The copies that were salvaged did not see the light of day for decades to come.
Anyway, I played this in full on my Linn Sondek/Rotel/B&W set-up and the audio was nothing short of STUNNING!!!!! Amazing clarity of each and every note played. If you have not yet got this copy or want to upgrade, this is the ONE!!!!
The FRONT LAMINATED sleeve is a strong EX with NO creases but with faint disc impression. Otherwise completely crisp. Sharp crisp opening. A fully legible spine. Tiny miniscule laminate lift lines near the spine hardly noticeable.
Labels are NM!!! NO spindle mark on side 1. Just one miniscule trace on side 2.
