These rarely ever turn up for salé like this! you often see US. pressings with the pink scroll but rarely ever uk pink scroll press in this condition!! These are virtually impossible to find like this! this has been stored by me in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover for at least 38 years! Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and initially played a few times and then stored away in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve for over 38 years! This is how I have always stored my records! 1st UK issue, 1st UK pressing of Genesis Nursery Cryme! Please note!, I have collected and heard many copies of this album on vinyl over the years. This copy is one of the best sounding that I have ever heard before this absolutely blew me away! Any one who knows this awesome album ,would know how hard it is to find these 1st issue originals with top audio and without any loud clicks or pops and nasty constant background interfearence, there are many quiet places during the play of this album. Well this is about the most stunning and vibrant copy that I have ever heard, and yes there are no loud clicks or pops that i heard during the play of this vinyl,any static heard was very isolated indeed. very, very,very rare to find indeed! The audio quality has and is, always my prime interest in vinyl  Please note, it is my personal opinion that these original 1st issue UK pink scroll Genesis vinyls, produce the best audio quality than any other format available on the planet! So vibrant with such feel, truly a joy to listen to! For any avid Genesis audiophiles out there, this is for you! Absolutely tip top stunning vibrant seperation throughout! The best that I have heard of this pressing! Audio graded at least excellent plus to near mint! 

This is complete with the original 1st issue 'textured E.Day & Co gatefold cover in astounding Near Mint condition! No splits or tares, No creases or marks, none of the normaly seen edge rubbing or fading at the spine! This has been stored in a case seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since I purchased it from new! Cover graded at Near Mint! Unbeleivably rare Archive copy!

The Charisma Pink Scroll Label was the first label design used on LPs released by Charisma Records. In the UK, they were used from Charisma's inception in 1969 until mid-1972, with the release of Lindisfarne's Dingly Dell LP (CAS 1057). This was replaced by the large mad hatter label, designed by Paul Whitehead of Genesis sleeve design fame. In the United States, the pink scroll labels were used in late 1973 and early 1974 on releases distributed by Buddah Records. Releases distributed by Atlantic Records used the small mad hatter label. Because Charisma had many bands who were relative unknowns when they were signed, many original pressings of early UK issues of albums from Charisma bands like Genesis, Audience and Van der Graaf Generator with pink scroll labels have become quite rare and sought after by collectors. Please also note that the first pressings of these albums were also on a far superior quality of vinyl. Distributed by B&C Records, the heavy, thick vinyl pressings have only ever been shoddily re-issued when Phonogram took over Charisma at the beginning of 1976 (with the release of Genesis' A Trick of the Tail LP)!

.Nursery Cryme is the third studio album by Genesis and was recorded and released in 1971. It is also the first album to feature the lineup of Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins, and Steve Hackett, the latter two replacing John Mayhew and Anthony Phillips on drums and guitar, respectively in 1970 following the release of Trespass. This lineup would remain consistent until Gabriel's departure in 1975.

While this album was being written parts of it were written by temporary band member Mick Barnard. In an interview, Tony Banks stated, "Steve was in the band a very short time when we recorded 'Nursery Cryme.' All the guitar parts on "Musical Box" were actually written by Mick; Steve tended to play pretty much what Mick had played 'cause there wasn't much time to learn new parts. Most of the guitar on it is Mike anyhow - all the rhythm guitar, it always was. There wasn't that much lead guitar on it." - The Genesis Autodiscography - By Jon Young Trouser Press magazine, March 1982

"The Musical Box" and "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" — both the major highlights of Nursery Cryme — became staples of their live performances.

Although not a success upon release in their homeland, Nursery Cryme became an unexpected hit in Italy, reaching number 4 in the LP charts  - spurring on Genesis' European success - with the album eventually reaching #39 in the UK in 1974

Please Note: "The Musical Box" includes uncredited writing contributions from former member Anthony Phillips, having been based on a 1969 demo by him and Rutherford called "F Sharp". It is also said to include some guitar parts written by transitional member Mick Barnard.

Though in my opinion not as polished in production terms as the albums that followed (most of the songs were only recorded on 8-track), Nursery Cryme was still a large progression from the group's second album Trespass. Although the folky feel was still retained on songs such as "Harlequin" and "For Absent Friends", other tracks displayed a more aggressive and strident sound. Hackett's lead guitar playing contributed a lot to this, with strong solos contained within "The Musical Box", "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" and "The Fountain Of Salmacis".

Banks also contributed towards the more aggressive sound in various ways: for some time before Hackett's recruitment, Genesis had performed live as a four-piece, with Banks substituting for guitar by playing lead solos on his Hohner "Pianet" electric piano, played through a fuzz box. This technique can be heard on "The Musical Box" and the intro to "The Return of the Giant Hogweed". In addition, the band purchased their own Mellotron Mark II (from King Crimson).

 Banks employed the Mk II "three violins" sound to great effect in "The Fountain Of Salmacis" and "Seven Stones", whilst the climax of "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" used fuzzed Mk. II "combined brass".

This vinyls playing surface is AWESOME Still retains its original gloss from new!This is the original heavy and thicker vinyl only found on these early pressings!!!!(HEAVY VINYLS IN MY OPINION PRODUCE BETTER AUDIO QUALITY THAN FLIMSIER LATER PRESSINGS) This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!! Any marks thart could possibly be seen angled to the light would mostly be caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its record sleeve! I can see (NO) needle scratches!  however these surface marks have very little effect on the superbe audio playback .Absolutely superbe! please note!  I have played this prior to listing and this was played at very high volume on a top system the audio is cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed at all in my opinion ! Please note! it is easy to be critical about 70s pressings, please allow for the odd static in the form of very light static background crackle that might be heard during some isolated quiet places but (not) consistant throughout the audio! Points to note! This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 38 years and from my experiance constant cleaning before each play would benefit this vinyl, because i have noticed that the audio becomes cleaner each time it is played!  (build up of dirt or dust in the grooves built up over years of storage contrabutes to a lot of very light background crackle) Also the fact that I can see some debrit on the vinyl after it has been played!  I must emphisise the audio is awesome!  There is (no) jumps or skips and no loud clicks or pops PLEASE NOTE! THIS VINYL HAS ALWAYS BEEN STORED SEPERATELY IN A POLY SLEEVE! THIS IS HOW I HAVE ALWAYS STORED MY RECORDS!!!! Top audio throughout!!!! Audio is graded at least excellent plus to near mint!

 Pease note! I always add this disclaimer! please allow for light static crackle perhapes during some of the quieter places (not consistent throughout the audio) please remember this is a genuine vinyl that is 39 years old! and would have been played on a system that was 36 years old!

Please note! This vinyl has been stored in a case , laying dormant for over 38 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static/crackle. Aconstant clean before each play is highly recvomended. This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

These are the original UK ''pink scroll'' THE FAMOUS CHARISMA LABEL'' In awesom condition B&C RECORDS are featured Very light spidering can be seen angled in the light (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round! This vinyl has not been over played in my opinion!

The Cover

This is the original and rarest to finn this ALMOST AS NEW CONDITION printed by E.DAY & CO (ENGLAND) The front and rear being TEXTURED FINISH (the rarest and hardest to find) There is not much to say apart from this is probably the best cover that you will ever find!   ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS THICK HEAVY CARD TYPE COVER !!! NO SPLITS NO TARES NO NASTY WRITING OR CREASES (NO) STORAGEWARE! Amaizingly this cover does not suffer from the usual fading at the spine that is so common on these original 1st issue covers!  This cover is graded at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS COVER!
