GENESIS ~ NURSERY CRYME Charisma CAS 1052 Original 1971 first pressing, with textured gatefold sleeve, on the Charisma Pink scroll label.  Incredibly this LP weighs in at a staggering 162g, a really chunky solid piece of vinyl!

Lowest and very first matrix numbers for this LP A-1U B-2U.

VINYL: Visual grading: VG Audio grading: VG+

Matrix Numbers: CAS 1052 A-1U / CAS 1052 B-2U  

Mother stampers 1 R / 1 A.  Very very low stamper values of 2 and 3 in the GRAMOPHLTD pressing sequence used by EMI. This is the lowest stamper value of Nursery Cryme I have ever come across.  In my experience it is very rare to find early copies of this album with single letter stampers on both sides, let alone one’s with as low a value as these. Exceptional.

The vinyl is graded as VG+.  The record has nice gloss shine to it.  It mainly has just a moderate amount of generally fine hairline marks with just one or two more noticeable yet small marks. 

Audio playback.  VG+  The record plays back very well indeed. I note that there aren’t any really heavy or significant marks on this copy that would cause a major issue on playback.  The listener will not be disappointed with playback, the sound is bright and clean suggesting the grooves are in a generally really good condition. The music really shines through and the record reveals the true musical genius of this prog masterpiece.

LABELS ~ EX Both labels are clean with no writing.

OUTER SLEEVE. ~ VG+

The textured gatefold sleeve manufactured by E J Day is graded as being in Very Good (plus) condition.  It is clean and tidy throughout, a really nice example.  It has a small amount of isolated damage to one small area on the spine where the cover has split apart very slightly.   Apart from this the cover is in really nice shape and would probably grade as Excellent, but as I prefer to grade conservatively then it is graded at VG+

INNER SLEEVE.  VG-

The original generic white inner sleeve is in VG- condition.  It has been repaired with sellotape in a couple of places and is lightly creased.

Overall this is a decent copy of this rare record. Whilst not a top grade copy it a fantastic early copy, one of the first off the production line having such low stamper values of R and A. The thickness and weight of the vinyl is truly astounding at 162 grams.

All records are been placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping.  Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s
