Offered here is a must-have for any blues record collector: “Genesis – The Beginnings Of Rock” is a four-LP set of blues recordings from musicians such as Sunnyland Slim, Muddy Waters, Robert Nighthawk, Memphis Minnie and Washboard Sam, the founding fathers (and mothers) of what became the 20th century’s greatest white musical exponent – “Rock ‘n’ Roll”!! This boxed set comprises four LPs, with an accompanying 18-page book, on the men and women who, through the blues, allowed Rock ‘n’ Roll music to encompass a generation and change popular culture forever. For any music aficionado, this is essential.
The first LP contains 14 tracks from Sunnyland Slim, Muddy Waters, Leroy Foster, Forrest City Joe, Robert Nighthawk and Little Johnny Jones. Track listings are as follows:

The second LP concentrates entirely on Muddy Waters and features another 14 tracks:
Side 1: You’re Gonna Miss Me/Rollin’ Stone/Louisiana Blues/Evan’s Shuffle/Long Distance Call/Honey Bee/Howlin’ Wolf.
Side 2: She Moves Me/My Fault/Still A Fool/They Call Me Muddy Waters/All Night Long/Please Have Mercy/Who’s Gonna Be Your Sweet Man.
The third LP contains tracks from Memphis Minnie, Robert Nighthawk, Big Bill Broonzy and Washboard Sam. They are:
Side 1: Broken Heart/Me & My Chauffeur – Memphis Minnie. Jackson Town Gal/Return Mail Blues – Robert Nighthawk. Jacqueline/Little City Woman/Lonesome – Big Bill Broonzy.

The fourth LP concentrates entirely on Jimmy Rogers and features another 14 tracks:

The book which goes with this 4-LP set is written by Blues Unlimited writers and editors, Mike Leadbitter, Simon A. Napier and Mike Rowe, with additional material by blues writer Sam Charters. It also includes the earliest known photo of Sonny Boy Williamson II, and biographies and discographies of all the featured artists.
