Rare original UK 1971 Genesis 7 inch single The Knife (Parts 1 and 2)

on the highly collectable original Charisma pink scroll record label, CB152

with the all important original picture sleeve

in truly EXCELLENT condition with terrific audio quality 

Matrix Numbers : Side 1 - CB 152 A - 1 U, Side 2 - CB 152 B - 1 U, with stampers "KT", "2R" and "KT", "1R" on the dead wax areas of sides 1 and 2 respectively

The record is in excellent condition with virtually all of the original glossy sheen remaining on each side of the vinyl. Holding the record up to a bright light reveals some strictly surface only hairlines, brought about by insertion to and removal from the outer sleeve - no deep rooted scratches and nothing of any real significance. The record is totally flat with no warping at all and has been well looked after.

 The labels are excellent+ with just a couple of very, very light spindle marks adjacent to the centre hole - barely detectable. There is no unwanted writing or other surface blemishes. See photos for confirmation of just what great condition the labels are in.

The quality of the audio is again excellent - : there is some very, very light and strictly background crackle at the beginning of each track, but nothing to diminish the overall outstanding audio quality. No skips or distortion - a great, great listen on both sides, with the the original Genesis in peak form prior to releasing the mighty prog rock classics "Nursery Cryme and "Foxtrot" (though this single was taken from the previous album "Trespass"). What a golden era this was : Genesis, Yes, King Crimson leading the way on the progressive rock front!!

Comes in original picture sleeve, which itself is in excellent minus condition - no tears, splits or unwanted writing, just some very mild surface creasing and light, light ringwear. Eminently presentable and totally functional.

A chance to own an elusive, early 70's progressive rock gem by one of THE pioneering bands of that time. Highly collectable and very, very difficult to find a better copy.

My record grading adheres to the “Record Collector” guide, which has established a set of standards for the condition of second-hand records. These indicate the amount of wear and tear the disc, sleeve, and other items (such as lyric inserts) have been subject to and the condition that they are in at present. The seven standard condition categories, and descriptions of what each one means, are listed below:

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
