Description

Genesis / The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

CHARISMA  CGS 101 Stereo 1974

Very first issue of this prog-rock classic.

This particular issue is noticeable and highly sought after for several reasons.

Marketed by B&C Records, on labels and sleeve, all but the first issues have "Phonogram" on discs and sleeve or both making them later pressings.

The records were pressed in UK but the lavish gatefold sleeve was printed and made by Bruin B.V. Zaandam, Holland, later issues had UK printed sleeve. Apparently Charisma were in such a rush to release this album they hurried through the normal channels in their haste to get it out no matter at what cost!

Records have on respective run-offs:

Side One:      CG 1 A 2U Porky + Johnnie

Side Two:      CG 1 B 2U Pecko

Side Three:    CG 2 A 2U Pecko

Side Four:      CG 2 B 2U Porky

"Small Mad Hatter" labels on the A sides of the discs and custom labels on the B sides.

See photos for label and cover detail.

This 2LP set comes with the original inner sleeves with CG 1 & 2 in the corners respectively.

The whole set is in excellent condition, with a very little play at all. Some slight ageing marks on the covers due to the whiteness of the card otherwise an original collectable classic.

Any questions, please ask and thanks for looking!
