Description
7″/45rpm
GENESIS: The Silent Sun Rare promotional copy on Parrot, Pitman 'styrene' pressing.Record is in excellent condition with minimal wear to surface, faint hairline marks and a few light scratches on either side, though no scuff marks or serious scratches; labels are relatively clean on both sides (apart from the 'X' on the A-side) and there's no real evidence of wear to, or around the centre-hole. I would grade the record as EX/EX- on the A-side and EX-/VG+ on the B-side.
Original Parrot sleeve is shows signs of wear from light handling, I'd grade this EX.
NB: I am a private collector and have been collecting vinyl records – on and off, for well over 40 years, but now I really need the space, hence the reason for these listings! Media (record) graded first — visually under LED lighting, followed by the sleeve.
- Media Condition: EX- (A-side) / VG+ (B-side)
- Sleeve Condition: EX
Grading system
I use the standard grading system introduced by Record Collector to determine the condition of the records I am selling, with either a + or – added where necessary to provide a wider selection of grades for greater accuracy.
- Mint (M)
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. - Excellent (EX)
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. - Very Good (VG)
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. - Good (G)
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. - Fair (F)
The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. - Poor (P)
The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. - Bad (B)
The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection-filler.
