Description
THIS RECORD, from the year 1921, came to me from an unsold dealer's stock, still in its original sleeve and in essentially unplayed condition. It's remarkable that anything from nearly a century ago could survive so well, but this record did!
It's Gennett 4763. THE LANIN ORCHESTRA plays the jazzy fox trot, "SATURDAY." On the flip side, the GREEN BROS. NOVELTY BAND offers "WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN."
The original sleeve is somewhat tattered, but hey, you get a picture of the scantily clad Gennett Sisters on it, so quit complaining! (At no extra charge, I offer an improved version of the same photo, for your dining-and-dancing pleasure).
This original 1921 Gennett 4763 is in scarcely believable top E+ condition. I listened to it just now, and it's as clean and undistorted a Gennett as you have never heard!
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
