On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by Gentle Giant called "Acquiring The Taste" and is an ORIGINAL 1971 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press Vertigo 'Spiral' label!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST LPS ON THE VERTIGO LABEL AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!! JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! BACK IN 1971 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!! AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!! NOT ONLY THAT BUT THIS LP IS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION - AND CLEARLY HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1971 UK VERTIGO 1ST PRESSING ON THE 1ST PRESS VERTIGO 'SPIRAL' LABEL, 1ST PRESS VERTIGO INNER SLEEVE, AND 1ST PRESS GATEFOLD COVER!!!!
This auction is for the incredibly hard to find second Gentle Giant album "Acquiring the Taste" issued in 1971. This is a bit special really as the condition of this album is in one word "fabulous". This will be an upgrade for most discerning collectors and does not show up very often in this collectible EX condition!!
Vinyl: EX. This vinyl has been looked after by a careful collector. It has no marks and just a couple of wispy hairline traces, none particularly long. Under a strong light there are some paper retraction traces visible, but any vinyl, even a new one, will have these. On replay it only gets better. Great strong stereo separation with near silent (no crackle etc.) replay. Needless to say this vinyl has no problems at all. NO jumps, NO skips, NO sticks etc.
Gatefold sleeve: EX. Again this has to be seen to be believed. A properly looked after sleeve with barely any storage wear at all. The edges attest to minimal handling and careful storage in a PVC outer sleeve. A splendid overall condition of this gatefold which also benefits a beautiful crisp opening and spine which has no lettering making it a first press proper. On the spine there is a small nick, but that's the only point one could possibly pick. This sleeve has no creases at all!! the colours are extremely rich. There is nothing untoward like writing or stains. A top notch upper quartile sleeve.
The original inner sleeve is also still present. It has the original 0371 date stamp. It has light yellowing and minor creasing.
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
