Russell was commissioned to write the music for "Encounter Near Venus," a children's story ballet presented by Ballet Pacifica in Orange County in 1975.
ENCOUNTER NEAR VENUS, the classic ballet, based on the book of the same name, by author Leonard Wibberley. Music composed for the ballet by GEORGE H. RUSSELL, played by pianist LINCOLN MAYORGA, and famed percussionists, SHELLY MANNE, LARRY BUNKER, VICTOR FELDMAN, COLIN BAILEY and WALLY SNOW, under the direction of VICTOR FELDMAN.
