Without a doubt, Harrison's first solo recording, originally issued as a triple album, is his best. Drawing on his backlog of unused compositions from the late Beatles era, George crafted material that managed the rare feat of conveying spiritual mysticism without sacrificing his gifts for melody and grand, sweeping arrangements. Enhanced by Phil Spector's lush orchestral production and Harrison's own superb slide guitar, nearly every song is excellent: "Awaiting on You All," "Beware of Darkness," the Dylan collaboration "I'd Have You Anytime," "Isn't It a Pity," and the hit singles "My Sweet Lord" and "What Is Life" are just a few of the highlights. A very moving work, with a very significant flaw: the jams that comprise the final third of the album are entirely dispensable, and have probably only been played once or twice by most of the listeners who own this record. Those same jams, however, played by Eric Clapton, Carl Radle, Bobby Whitlock, and Jim Gordon (all of whom had just come off of touring as part of Delaney & Bonnie's band), proved to be of immense musical importance, precipitating the formation of Derek & The Dominos. Thus, they weren't a total dead end, and may actually be much more to the liking of the latter band's fans. 

Condition 

I grade records conservatively and try to be as comprehensive as possible.  Records can look fine, yet sound like crap. For this reason, I listen to every record/song I sell. Any dust you see in my pics is gone when you receive it. I thoroughly clean each LP after I shoot the pics and before I listen to them. I also grade covers and records separately. If you collect for aesthetics, this is important. I care more about the vinyl than the packaging but want you to have no surprises, so I try to explain both with as much detail as possible.

These are used records. That doesn't mean you must tolerate bad vinyl. I can tolerate surface noise only if it's low-level, and doesn't spoil the listening experience. If it's wall to wall, that record is junk and I refuse to pass it along. I want you to be happy with your purchase.

Be advised, though, with me it's more about the music.  I can tolerate a crappy cover on a decent LP so long as it's doing its job; protecting the LP as designed--especially if it has some historic or artistic significance (design, etc.).  In such cases, I am willing to hold on to a damaged cover even though it has outlived its monetary value. I also use center-hole, plain white covers when an original cover is beyond saving. Buyers of anything in the middle get both.

I rate this vinyl as Excellent (EX)

Always handled carefully. Few visible flaws. Those that can be seen are small.  No skips.  Very little surface noise.  What is present is not persistent and only audible between songs. No groove wear. The labels are clean, vivid and bright, lead-in grooves are clean. The vinyl has a high gloss. The pressing is excellent.  Always stored in audiophile inner sleeves.

I rate this cover as Very Good Plus (VG+):

Box is made of heavy stock. Rated down slightly due to recent hinge repair. Photos are from BEFORE that repair--it was more a reinforcement than an actual repair.  Done carefully with clear packaging tape.  All other surfaces clean and intact. VERY light wear.  Has always been poly sleeved...looks great. 

Ships with original lyric sleeves in new Mobile Fidelity Master inner sleeves and poly outer.  Will be packed carefully to ensure safe arrival.  PLEASE NOTE--does NOT include original poster.

I love music and records. This is my private collection, one I accumulated over the last 40 years. I bought many of them new and have kept them that way. Some were gifts, some are promo copies I got while working in radio or bought used. All have been cleaned and stored properly. Unless otherwise stated, albums that came with printed sleeves or other promotional items still have them.
