Cover maker / designer / format / construction: This was a very successful album produced in large quantities in the UK & USA. For this reason it is likely that there were several manufacturers of the various components which make up the packaging and they were assembled according to what was available. To the best of my knowledge there are no specific 'makers' credited; most seem to be of U.S.A origin, far fewer state a Great Britain origin and many have no country of origin stated at all. There is no doubt in this case as under the credits on the inside of the lid 'MADE AND PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN' is unmistakable. Also, the records inside are some of the earliest from the first UK pressings and the poster, which is commonly found to be of U.S.A. origin, is 'PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN' with the correct UK catalogue number. Only the textured inner sleeves carry a tiny circular 'Printed in U.S.A.' stamp in the bottom right corner of one side. The box / packaging was designed by Tom Wilkes and the photography was by Barry Feinstein. The box is of a robust card construction with the overlapping lid hinged down the left hand side – the photograph is a black and white almost sepia tone finish with a matt / finely textured surface and is pasted on – there is no laminate or other coating.
