Artist. George Harrison. Title. All Things Must Pass. Label. Apple. UK First Press 1971. Catalogue number. STCH 639. First Press Matrix numbers. -1U -1U -1U -1U -1U -1U
SO LETS COVER WHAT A FIRST PRESS UK SET MUST HAVE:
The box must be the large deep issue. The typeface inside the box lid must be slightly embossed and NOT smooth. It must say "MADE AND PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN" inside the box lid. Later ones were made in the USA. The inner sleeves must be textured. The giant poster must be printed on matt paper and have ' PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN STCH 639' in pink typeface. The spines and base of the box must both have exactly the same heavily textured finish with the same pattern (later ones had a different feel and pattern to the spines). The box must have a webbing style hinge and not a separate lid and base. The records must ALL have -1U at the end of the matrix number. The labels must state 'MFD IN UK' at 9 o'clock.
This set has ALL of the above requirements. Labels. The six picture labels are in fine condition with no marks tears or writing and no0 colour loss. The black typeface is in pristine condition and perfectly legible. The spindle holes are unworn with barely a trace of spindle lines.
AUDIO PLAYBACK
All three records play without any background crackle. No pops or LOUD repetitive clicks anywhere during my complete test play. No repeats and no jumps. No groove wear at all.
I heard no more than one or to minuscule dust pops throughout the entire playing of all three discs.
BOX
No corner damage to speak of. The spine gold print is intact and fully legible. There is the remnants of a price sticker. The front could do with a light clean.
The box structure is firm and solid. Often they lose their integrity. Not this one.
The base of the box and all the spines are in easily EX condition. No tears or scratches.
Opening the box and looking inside at the panels under the lid. The orange colour is rich and vibrant and no blemishes to any part of it. All the type face is pristine and perfect. The webbing that makes the lid hinge is undamage straight and true as are all the inner corners and spines.
Inside the box the three albums came housed in three very vulnerable rough textured sleeves that in many cases have split along the seams. Not these. No splits or tears. No creases on them more a light folding.
The huge poster is often missing but not in this case. Never been placed on any wall with no pin holes or signs of tape. A few light folds NOT creases on it and only one very small nick in the top of it.
I have carefully checked it and it is the first issue PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN in pink lettering and not the later American one.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Will be sent with NAGAOKA anti static inner sleeves as well as the original ones.
Overall a really great looking AND sounding copy.
You will not be disappointed!

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.
V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
Further information. All records are separated from the covers and sent in a brand new polythene sleeve and packed in heavy duty cardboard.
