I will never compromise on quality, safe packaging – I NEVER use mailing envelopes that offer virtually no protection at all, and records WILL arrive damaged in them at some time as most record buyers will already know. Here, you get what you pay for – SAFE PACKING in BOXES using 7mm DOUBLE-WALL STIFFENERS including full side protection and bubble wrap, the records removed from the covers of course. All this very safe packing means I lose money on every box I post, but safe delivery is, and will always be paramount. You WILL see the difference when my packet arrives. Also, I will pay for insurance on any record that sells for over £100 at NO extra cost – that is UK and abroad. Also I aim to post the very same day after payment is received if possible. PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT send any item, no matter what its value without a Royal Mail or courier tracking number. ALL my items must be signed and trackable to comply with Ebay delivery rules. Please do NOT ask me to make any exceptions to this rule as no country offers 100% reliable service without it.

Posting to Russia: Yes, I do post to Russia. But delivery can take longer from the UK. So please be patient. I will submit a tracking number to the winning bidder, and when the packet arrives there it can be followed online using the Russian post website.

Label/Format: Apple with matt, quite smooth surfaces – sides 1 to 4 have the orange coloured format as seen. Sides 5 and 6 have a more customised ‘green’ format.

Label Conditions: All labels are fresh, clean and attractive with any spindle marks light and quite faint. All six sides of this classic set play superbly.

Warps or Lateral Movement: Assume all records I offer have no significant warping or lateral movement to cause sound or tracking issues. All should play fine even on budget turntables.

Rarity: Moderately scarce as a standard copy with the American made box and poster and inners. Ones with the UK-made box are rarer. As seen from above, this has the imported box ‘cover’ which differs only slightly from the UK one, the tray storage area being shallower. Most copies offered have the imported contents – being a specialised set, I presume it was cheaper to make them all eventually from one source and import them – so many consider this version the standard one for the UK market. Be assured, the records are pressed in the UK, and superbly so with fantastic clean sound for all. Condition is paramount as always, the the packaging is the harder part of finding a better copy. The box often gets crushed and broken, and the taped hinged lid torn off. Finding near immaculate unmounted posters is less easy also, and those inners are rarely found with the edge folds intact. Records in boxes almost always move around in transit to retailers, and even from new, these edges often split. Well this copy that was owned from new by one owner sees the contents in impressive and intact condition – all is described in detail further down.

Brief Info: Harrison’s 1970 triple album classic that for me is by far the best post-Beatles album he ever made. With some material dating back to the mid-Beatles era, there are some real gems included here including the famous ‘My Sweet Lord’, ‘If Not For You’ and ‘What is Life’. Sides one to four are typical Harrison songs, while the last disc has lengthy jam instrumentals featuring a host of super-star musicians seen above. Most interested people reading this will know all about this album already, I prefer to explain more of what is available and condition.

What This Set Includes: American-made 1-piece box with the all orange inside and shallower tray – 3 EMI UK pressed, first matrix records – 3 different coloured unlined inner sleeves – US-made large unmounted poster.

Box Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(+): with only mild grubbiness near the edges of the paste-on graphic front that few ever avoid at best. So politely and lightly aged only, but the front still attractive overall with little else to fault. The black lightly textured back is very impressive indeed with any marks or blemishes few and very light, this being on the very best backs I have yet seen on this item. The taped hinge is superb and as strong as when made, a vulnerable part that can literally split and fall off, but this is fantastic, as is the spine with its gold, very gently embossed text that is strong, fully intact and barely worn at all. All the text easily read as-seen on my picture. The orange inside lid and tray are simply immaculate. More unusually, all the edges (lid and tray) are fully intact, strong with no weakening, splits or repairs. The lid clearly more vulnerable, but no scuffs, creasing, dinks or rubbing, these areas are seldom seen quite like this now. I almost feel I have under-graded this box, the mild front grubbiness apart, this is one of the very finest I have seen to date.

The Inner Sleeves: EXCELLENT: and arguably better. All have ‘PRINTED IN USA’ credits, I have never seen and with UK credits and I feel all versions are imported for the UK market. All are unlined as all were, the thin card quite soft, fragile with very gently textured surfaces. Massively prone to edge splits, tears, creasing and damage, and even ring wear. All three here are clean, still fresh with minimal creasing and neat recessed top openings. The edges here are virtually all intact, the grey one has a tiny thin on the bottom where daylight peeps through when held to light. the green one is fully and naturally intact. Just the purple had a tiny, fine and neat bottom edge split which I neatly repaired to stop it potentially widening in future, it barely even registers. I strongly suggest any winning bidder stores the records inside the three new soft-lined inners I included as these inners are just so fragile. With many, if not most of these inners having often large edge splits and damage, these these three are quite exceptional overall and remaining attractive.

The Poster: MINT(–) and UNMOUNTED. Thus, no pin-holes or tape marks with no damage of any kind. Unfaded with all the folds strong with minimal surface creasing or crinkle, this printed on matt paper and also printed in America on quality, watermarked thick paper. Crisp edges and a clean back, this is unaged and looks absolutely fantastic as-seen, clearly hardly even handled. Guaranteed original, when held to light, the watermark is seen on the paper, there is no way this can be faked. The heavily bearded Harrison looks a little spooky on this classic poster, and these are seldom seen better.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading:

DISC 1: EXCELLENT(++): with any surface traces very fine, wispy and faint as seen under light. Excellent shine and appearing little played.

DISC 2: EXCELLENT(+): very similar to disc one with only very fine, wispy surface traces seen under light.

DISC 3: MINT(–): even slightly better than disc one with any surface blemishes tiny, very few and faint, hardly played for sure.

An impressive visual set that are very clean with excellent shine and solidly pressed. Little used and offering impressive clean sound for all. Lovely UK pressed records, all with -1U matrix endings. I doubt if these records have seen light-of-day for decades.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: All three records play superbly with hardly anything to fault with no tracking issues* or inherent pressing noises. Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds minimal to none. Few copies will match let alone outperform these. Beautifully produced and recorded, these records and their packaging should please many, if not most collectors.

* As played-graded on a high-end Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge tracking at 2 grams. Records are a ‘contact’ format, and few will avoid the odd minor sound blemish.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.
