GEORGE MICHAEL Faith 1987 Columbia 1st Press w/Poster C40867 I Want Your Sex NM
George Michael's debut solo album, released in 1987 on Columbia Records, was one of the defining pop records of the decade. Written, arranged, produced, and performed almost entirely by Michael himself, Faith spans pop, soul, funk, and gospel — moving from the rockabilly stomp of the title track to the slow-burn R&B of "Father Figure" and the jazz-inflected closing ballad "Kissing a Fool." The album produced four consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 — "Faith," "Father Figure," "One More Try," and "Monkey" — making Michael the first solo artist since Michael Jackson to accomplish that from a single LP. It won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1989.
"I Want Your Sex" arrived as the lead single before the album and was banned by numerous radio stations in the US and UK, generating enormous press and cementing the record's cultural moment before it even hit shelves.
This is an Original US First Pressing on Columbia Records, catalog C 40867. The labels read "C 40867 / AL 40867" on Side 1 and "C 40867 / BL 40867" on Side 2, with no "MADE IN U.S.A." text at the bottom of the labels — correct for the earliest pressing variant.
Lacquers cut by Vlado Meller, who handled a significant volume of Columbia's output during this period. Side 1 carries the 1F lacquer designation, Side 2 the 1D — both first lacquer cuts. G1 stampers on both sides. This is a clean first-generation pull from the original pressing run.
