Description
Rare true first 1949 British edition of Orwell's peerless dystopian masterpiece. First edition, first impression. Hardback in publisher's original pale green cloth boards with red lettering to spine and red top-stain. Spine is slightly but evenly faded and there is some slight fading to cloth on top edge of rear board, no spotting. Slight softening to head and tail. Tips still sharp. Dust jacket as found, not repaired, ready for restoration if you want. Faded spine, some rubbing, some losses, un-clipped with 10 shilling price; please see photos. Protected in cellophane. Clean end papers, clean contents. Slight lean to block. No staining or inscriptions anywhere. Book measures approximately 8 x 5 inches with 312 pages. A better copy than most and priced to sell.
