Description
For auction is the GEORGE RUSSELL SEPTET's "The Stratus Seekers," on Riverside RLP 412 MONO, DG, 1962.
SOUND: VG+/NM-
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Outstanding sound, very powerful and clean. The only reason it's not graded solid NM- is the presence of a few tics on side B. Nothing loud or distracting, and they are concentrated in B2, "A Lonely Place," a very soft piece. The rest of the record is brilliant, without reservation.
VINYL: VG+ or better
Visually, the vinyl is very nice. There is one short hairline on side A and one on side B that don't affect sound. Otherwise, the vinyl is very nice, perhaps a very faint scuff or two (superficial). Fairly glossy and clean overall. Labels are blue "mike-and-reel" with deep-grooves and in good shape.
COVER: VG+ or better
The cover is great! The edges and spine are solid with minimal wear. The corners fairly sharp, just a touch or routine wear. Both front and back are clean with minor, routine wear or aging. The owner's name is written across the back/top in pen.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
I wasn't aware of Russell. This beautifully preserved record is righteous! No reserve, bidding starts at $15.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
