Georges Arvanitas Quintet 'Soul Jazz', Columbia FPX 193, France 1960.
One of the all-time Euro jazz grails here, without a doubt. This superb 1960 bop session led by Arvanitas is very, very hard to find (but well worth the search).
NM cover is really stunning. Looks brand new. Glossy, bright, colourful and striking. Just the tiniest bit of rub-wear to the corners, and a very small sticker tear, top right (see photo). A hint of ringwear/ record indentation on rear. No splits, no creases; all in all, beautiful. Really remarkable condition for a 50+ year-old flimsy cover such as this.
I will conservatively grade the vinyl at VG. Many light scuffs and hairlines, only one very short feelable scratch. Plays with light-to-moderate surface noise/ crackles. No skips, no sticks. Several light ticks during B1 and half of A1 to start of A2. The only real actual scratch causes louder clicks for 1 minute of B4. Still, a very enjoyable listen. Fidelity is superb; no high-end distortion. Instruments really jump out at you. Wonderful stuff.
Labels are clean. Comes in original rice-paper inner.
