On February the 3 rd, 1962, the SS "FRANCE" put out from LE HAVRE for NEW-YORK,via SOUTHAMPTON: it was her maiden voyage

To celebrate the occasion, François REICHENBACK filmed "A WEEK-END AT SEA" an interestingand amusing account of life aboard the "FRANCE" during the first crossing.

The rousing welcome given the "FRANCE" upon entering NEW-YORK harbor brings the film to an end on a triumphal note.
